May 15th - Portland

It’s Tuesday! And I have not been blogging! I have plenty of excuses, but instead I’ll just dive in.

This past weekend I escaped the beginning of the Denver heat wave to the city of Portland, Oregon. … And may or may not have fallen in love. Granted, I will say that I think everyone is falling in love right now with the idea of something new and different after the last year and a half that we’ve had. Do I really love Portland or do I just love that Portland isn’t where I’ve been stuck for 15 months? And do I really love Portland or do I just love the fact that it was <75° the entire time and then I came home three promised days of 100°? (Also I just found out the keyboard shortcut for the degrees symbol and am way too excited about it… °°°!!!!!°°°°°°°)

Despite any external factors, it was a really cool city. The weekend was quick and fam-filled, so we mostly ate and walked and oo/aa’d over babies. And my wallet might be hurting after our excursion to Powell’s bookstore… If you’re ever in Portland, do yourself a favor and check it out.

The eating and walking and babies (and bookstore) were all amazing, so I’m excited to go back and spend some time in Portland without a predetermined schedule. PNW hikes have been calling my name for quite some time now, as have Portland thrift stores. I could also spend probably another three hours in Powell’s. Not kidding.

If anyone is looking for an excuse for a weekend excursion, Southwest just came out with quite the deal for flights from Sept 15 - Nov 3. Call me crazy, but an October weekend in Portland sounds pretty lovely.

The art for today is a piece I made a little while ago for the cover of a collection of favorite recipes. Such a cute gift idea.
