“They prefer it more than me,” he says.
Before I can even tell myself not to, it pops out: “Than I.”
He raises a brow, but is smiling. Fortunately. “You’re right.”
(The two best words in the English language.)
“But…” he continues, “it could have been ‘than me’ if I was saying they did not prefer me. Like… they prefer it more than they prefer me.”
My brain takes a second to process this.
“Yep. I suppose you are also right.”
