Quick blog post today! About to head out for a Passover dinner.
Austin called me this morning to talk about when we would head out. He also informed me that he had some “news that wouldn’t make me very happy”. Oh dear.
Are you going to tell me now or tell me when I get home? I asked.
I’ll tell you now. Remember how you sent out those cards? They didn’t get picked up. I just grabbed them out of the ditch and I think they’re all pretty water damaged.
Ugh. I had written three cards about a week ago to send out to friends as thank you and hello notes. Inside each I had included an extra blank card so they could send on one of their own. What Austin was definitely telling me is that those cards had been rained and snowed on. Not much hope for salvation. You’re right. That doesn’t make me super happy. I said.
Fortunately, I have plenty more cards. And on one of the water-logged notes, I misspelled a word and had to scratch it out. Now I get to the ~opportunity~ to re-write it perfectly (trying hard to see the positives here!). The best part of the situation, though, is that Austin found them. I could have just thought forever that my cards had arrived safe and sound. For next time, I’ll have to be a little more careful about where I put my outgoing mail… Ya live and ya learn.
In better news, I got this beautiful plant for Austin’s mom today at the local shop by my house. I included a picture so you can all see it’s glory. That feels a little happier than a picture of some water logged cards!
