March 7th - I'll Stay

I enjoy people. I really do. I had a great weekend full of hiking with people and grabbing beers outside with people and hanging out in huts with people. A lot more people interaction than I’ve been used to in the last year.

I just got home from hiking with one of my best friends out here, and Austin informed me he was heading out to have dumplings with his sister and her boyfriend. My immediate reaction? How dare he not include me in dumpling night!

Do you not want me to come…? I asked him. He looked at me like I was crazy. Of course you can come. I roll my eyes, wanting him to feel just slightly guilty about not immediately thinking of me and my feelings. Larkin, seriously. You’re more than invited. Come if you want to. I kind of figured that was assumed.

I slump onto the couch to chug my water. And realized just then how badly I did not want to stand back up. And that I hadn’t blogged yet. And that I had been in the company of humans for basically the last 48 hours straight. (And that I really wasn’t used to that at all.) And that suddenly a long shower and a hot cup of tea were the only two things that I could ever really need in this world.

He filled up his water, and got Roscoe all ready to go. Well? He asked. You coming?

I curl into the fetal position on the couch, already imagining the soft silence that would come as soon as he and Roscoe walked out the door.

Oh, me? No. I’m gonna stay.

P.s. Maybe I’ll add a drawing in later. Maybe I won’t. Right now it’s shower and tea time.
