March 10 - Impatience Is a Virtue
I am not the most patient person. Especially when it comes to things that I want. If I think that there’s a way for me to achieve great results but in less time, I’ll probably go for it, even if it feels a little… frantic.
Today, I went downstairs to get my mail and found that my ‘Just for Men, Touch of Grey’ beard dye had arrived. No, I am not a man. No, I do not have a beard. And no, I do not have a beard that is going grey. I am a woman who heard from her eyebrow specialist that the Just for Men beard dye is incredible for tinting your eyebrows. I am also a woman who is interested in being a little bit ~ thriftier ~.
Despite my excitement over receiving this package, I took a deep breath and told myself to hold off until Monday. I’m leaving for Chicago tonight and it’s sure to be a weekend full of seeing people I haven’t seen in a while. I would really rather not show up with botched eyebrows. Borderline worse than a really bad fake tan…it’s my face. Don’t do it, Larkin. Do not do it.
As I worked today, I couldn’t stop thinking about my little box of dye. It was calling to me. Don’t you want to know? I could hear it coming from the bathroom drawer. Don’t you want to try?
By 2pm, I couldn’t stand it any longer. I decided to just open the box, see how easy the directions were.
The answer? Too easy.
Before my brain could stop them, my hands were moving. They mixed up the dye. They cleaned my brows. They put on the (very ill-fitting) gloves. They carefully, slowly applied the dye, being careful to get every little hair.
After 5 minutes, my brain and my hands were back to cooperating and I removed the dye. I think for next time, I’ll use a little more red and a little less brown to try to better copy my natural color… but I’ve gotta say. I’m pretty impressed.
Moral of the story? Impatience is a virtue. And I’m going to Chicago with some nice lookin brows.
