It was really nice out here in Denver today. 65º and the sun was strong. I wasn’t entirely expecting to be stationed outside for the majority of our video shoot, but I wasn’t unhappy about it. Not much feels better than a freakishly nice day in late March.
As a fair-skinned girly who wants to stay looking young forever, I wear an spf on my face every day. So at first I wasn’t too concerned about the Denver sun. Plus, I was just in Florida. One would think that I have at least some sort of base color on me. ‘One would think’… such classic last words.
About an hour in, I decided just for giggles to check the UV index. My neck was feeling a little warm.
Oh no. You guys… the UV is an 8 right now. For those of you who don’t have to live under the sun’s dictatorship, you may not know that the UV index is on a 1-10 scale. I guess that over a 10 exists, but you probably shouldn’t be outside. 3-5 is pretty moderate. 6-7 is high. 8-10… someone get this girl a sunshirt.
A few people looked at me with blank stares, but the two other redheads on the shoot jumped into action. I have some sunscreen in my car! Let me go grab it. She dashed off.
The second redhead offered me a spare baseball cap. Us redheads, we have to stick together.
I am very happy to say that I caught that UV just in the nick of time. My porcelain neck has come out of another Denver sun day unscathed thanks to my fellow redheads.
