April 6th - Making Plans
For the first time in a long time, I have more than a couple future things to look forward to.
21 days until my second vaccine, 35 days until I start to feel slightly safe again.
A little over a month until my sister arrives to spend a week in Denver with me.
A little over a month + a week until I get to go home with her to see my family.
2 months until my birthday - I can’t decide how I feel about 25. At 21 I ordered a drink. At 25 I’ll rent a car… And feel very odd about being alive for a quarter of a century.
3 months until I camp in Wyoming’s red desert for the 4th of July.
None of these things will feel inherently normal, but we’re slowly getting there. Before Covid hit, planning trips helped keep me from falling into monotony. The last year, I’ve had to get a little more creative about finding things to look forward to. Instead of big trips, the last year was full of side projects and camping and dressing up to hang out with 4 people. I’m nowhere near ready to leave the country or go out to a bar, but planning to get on a flight to Connecticut without a month-long stomach pit feels pretty nice.
