March 7 - Rewards

My motivation has been lacking today. Unfortunately for me, my focus’ hiatus is not coinciding with me not having much to do. So, I had to do what any grown adult would do when this type of situation presents itself…to convince myself to get my tasks done, I took a page out of the kindergarten curriculum. Rewards.

My rewards at 25 are not as exciting as they were in kindergarten. Today, instead of animal shaped erasers, I got to fold my laundry. Instead of 10 extra minutes of recess, I got to workout. Instead of moving my clothespin from “Good” to “Great”, I got to take a nice, long lunch break.

My final reward, and the one I had to work the hardest for, is partially thanks to my mom. I’ve picked up a lot of ‘home ec’ tricks from her over the years, and one of my favorites is to always have balls of homemade cookie dough in the freezer. (Because cookies are always better when they’re hot.) So at 4:30, after staying on task for a full hour, I got 2 freshly (under) baked chocolate chip cookies.

Productivity was still not at an all time high, and I will probably pay for that tomorrow, but the cookies definitely helped.
