March 22 - Go Figure

I am flattered by the amount of responses I got on my post yesterday asking to see what I’d drawn. However, my drawings from yesterday will sadly be staying off the internet.

One of my favorite things to draw is human figures. Drawing the human form has always been my most successful go-to warm up when I haven’t drawn in a while. The body’s proportions are built into my muscle memory. The head is always about 1/6 of the body. The foot is about the size of your forearm. Arms typically don’t hang much past halfway down your thighs. So on and so forth. The ‘challenge’ behind the human form (and what makes it such a great warmup) comes with the poses, which, when you’re creative with it, are endless.

Some of you might have guessed where this post is going. For those who haven’t… I don’t have a nude figure drawing studio readily available here in Denver whenever I feel like warming up my drawing fingers. But I do have a human body. …And yesterday’s batch was a little too realistic.

Don’t worry, though. I drew one with slightly more coverage for you all today.
